Try outs will start at 4:00 PM on Friday, Aug 2nd. We will warm up from 3:00-3:45 and start at 4:00. Try outs should end around 5:30 or so. 

1) Tryouts will be held on August 2, 2024 at the Taylor High School Natatorium. There will be open practice for all swimmers with a valid physical. Please check the website for updates.

2) First, swimmers will need to turn in their physical before they are able to get in the water. If you don’t have your physical completed (double check for parent and student signatures), YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO TRYOUT.

3) Try outs will be for ALL swimmers. Swimmers will warm up at 3:00. After warm ups, swimmers will be put into heats based on their skill level/experience. Swimmers should swim in heats that will push them but not completely overmatch them. 

4) All swimmers will swim a 100 freestyle and 100 IM and  one other event from this list: 200 freestyle,  500 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke, and 100 butterfly. There will be ample time for rest between swims.

5) The varsity automatic/consideration cuts  for THS swimming are available on the website. JV swimmers must successfully complete try outs to make the team. NOTE: Swimming periods will be capped at 20 boys and 20 girls. Swimmers may get cut based on their try out times if we exceed those numbers.

6)  In order to make varsity, a swimmer must have at least one automatic cut OR 2 consideration cuts. Seniors will get special consideration and may be selected based on work ethic, leadership, and an ability to train. 

7) There will be make up try outs on August  19th at 2:45 at the Natatorium; however, treat this as a last resort.
